The Essentials of Resources – Breaking Down the Basics

A List of Stuff You Need In Order To Survive Outdoors

For individuals who find it a hobby to go out camping, hiking, or trekking in far away and isolated places where the traditional conveniences of living aren’t present, it is always a necessity to bring with them some survival gear. So before you go out there, you must know what your survival kit must contain.

1 – Knife

The decision to go camping or hiking without bringing a knife with you as part of your outdoor survival gear is probably the stupidest one you’re going to make. Mind you, a knife is not exclusively for cutting stuff in the kitchen as it also is a very crucial part of a survival gear. The reason why you can’t go out there without it is because it can do so many things that other outdoor survival gear and tools cannot. The list of functions that a knife does includes cutting practically everything like rope, cloth, and bandages, opening cans and packages, creating wood tools, and cutting food.

2 – Cordage

Any DIY survival gear needs rope, without a doubt. Keep in mind that when it comes to your chances of survival, the absence of a rope means that yours is very slim, unless of course you know how to make your own using stuff in the environment. Rope is used for things like building shelter, climbing, holding things together, lashing poles, fishing, making animal traps, and for attachment purposes.

3 – Hydration System

This one right here needs no explanation. Anyway, a normal person can survive days even without food, so long as there is water. That’s why if you plan on surviving out there, you must endure bringing with you a water bottle or any other container that can store water for drinking. Know that not all water found outdoors is ideal for drinking.

4 – Equipment for Signaling

Whenever you find yourself in a survival situation while camping in an isolated and remote area, one of your priorities is to find a way to make contact with other people. Bear in mind that if you let several days slip away without making the effort to make contact, your chances of being rescued will substantially decrease. For you to be sure you have the ability to contact people for a possible rescue, you have to always bring with you a signaling device. A mirror, whistle, and anything that can produce light will be of great help. You just can forget bringing along a signaling equipment since it’s an essential tactical survival gear.

The fact is there still are so many things you should be bringing with you if you go out camping or hiking and we leave the responsibility of learning the rest to you.
